Shaving cream as a baseball glove softener/ conditioner? - hot shaving cream

I read somewhere that shaving cream can as a glove softener or conditioner is used. Never heard of it. I have a glove-cream, which is similar to shaving cream, but also in the oven (hot cream baked glove, I think). Someone out there with shaving cream? If so, what kind of results obtained, and there is a certain type of cream works best?
